How do I get my license key?
When you purchase a Software License from HP we will supply you with an Entitlement Certificate for that software license. This Entitlement Certificate is your record of the License and provides all the information you need to obtain the license key that is needed to unlock the software. The Entitlement Certificate is delivered in one of two methods described in Sections A and B below
A. In an envelope marked “License Documents Enclosed”.
The envelope is either shipped standalone or is packaged with other server, storage or software items on your order.
The Entitlement Certificate inside the envelope contains:
- The Entitlement Order Number (EON) for your license
- Instructions on how to retrieve your license key on the My HP Licensing portal – http://www.MyHPLicensing.hp.com
Once you have this information go to Step 1 below.
B. Available at the Electronic Download site.
If you have requested Electronic Delivery of the software you ordered, then access instructions for the HP Electronic Delivery site are e-mailed to the address provided to us by your HP or HP reseller sales representative. (Sometimes the e-mail may get moved to your “Junk” mail folder by mistake!)
Click on the link in the e-mail to access your order on the HP Electronic Delivery site.
Log-In to the HP Electronic Download site using your HP Passport user account (or create a new account if necessary)
On the Get Licensing tab...
- Click on the “Get License” link to go directly to the My HP Licensing portal (Skip to Step 3 below)
OR
- Click on the “Get Entitlement Certificate” link to download a PDF copy to print or save (Go to Step 1)
Once you have this information go to Step 1 below.
Register your license on MyHPLicensing.hp.com
To get your license key you will need to register your product on the My HP Licensing portal. Follow the instructions below.
Step 1: Sign-In
- Go to the My HP Licensing Portal and sign in using your HP Passport user account Email & Password. If this is your first time you will need to create a new user account as highlighted.
Step 2: Enter the Entitlement Order Number
- Enter the Entitlement Order Number (EON) in the field provided. You will find the EON you need on the Entitlement Certificate(s) you received with your order.
Step 3: Select the Product and Quantity you wish to activate
- Note that for some products you are required to activate all the licenses, so you cannot select the quantity in that case.
- There may be more than one product linked to an EON so you must select which products to include.
Step 4: Are you activating for yourself or someone else?
- Select the required option. If you are activating for someone else please provide the email address of the person for whom you are activating.
- If this is a new user account you will be asked to provide a few more details on the next screen to create the user account.
Step 5: Enter License Locking information
- Enter License Locking information such as IP Address, WWN #, Serial Number, Platform type, etc. Instructions are provided by clicking on the Help icon as indicated by the red arrow.
- Please note that not all products require locking information so this step may or may not be necessary depending on the product.
Step 6: Complete!
- The Activation process is now complete. You will receive an Activation Receipt by e-mail containing the license key and license instructions (if applicable). You can also select to e-mail the license keys to a colleague if required.
- For most products you can also view the License Keys and instructions online.
- If there is any further action required on your part, details are included in the license instructions document.
Step 7: Manage My Assets
- All of your registered Entitlements, Products, and Locking IDs can be found on the Manage My Assets tab on the Home Page.
Step 8: Help!
- Help is available on the menu bar as shown. Here you will find our QuickStart Guide, FAQ list, and Contact Details for our Licensing Support centers.
- Logout! When you are finished do not forget to Logout before closing your browser window.
